Player agrees personal terms with Chelsea ahead summer move

Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has reported optimistically on Chelsea’s pursuit of highly-rated fullback Pedro Lima, confirming that the Blues have reached a verbal agreement with the teenager. The sensational Sport Recife player was promoted to the senior team in 2024 and made his debut in January.

Newsinfonigeria understands that Todd Boehly led Premier League side will pay €10.5 million in total to the Brazilian club. Despite not being a regular starter, Lima’s potential has attracted Chelsea, and the West Londoners are already accelerating their move to sign him. The 17-year-old also featured in the U17 FIFA World Cup for Brazil.

Lima was excellent throughout the tournament, playing in all five matches before Brazil was eliminated by South American rivals Argentina. His performance caught the attention of many clubs, but Chelsea seems to be in the driver’s seat to secure his signing.

Under Todd Boehly, Chelsea has placed a strong emphasis on signing young talents, particularly from Brazil. The club has already secured the likes of Andrey Santos and Angelo Gabriel, and they are closing in on the acquisition of Estevao Willian.

If the Blues manage to land Pedro Lima, he will become another promising Brazilian star in their ranks. However, the club plans to loan him to Strasbourg for a season to assess his development in Ligue 1. Since Lima is only 17 and cannot play in the Premier League until he turns 18, a loan to a Ligue 1 side makes perfect sense for his growth and adaptation to European football.

Chelsea can afford to wait for a season to allow Pedro Lima to grow and gain valuable European experience. The 17-year-old boasts plenty of talent and has the potential to become one of the top right-backs in football. His development will depend on how well the club nurtures him, and a loan spell at Strasbourg could be an excellent step in his progression. With careful guidance and regular playing time, Lima could develop into a key player for Chelsea in the future.

For Pedro Lima, moving from playing in a second-tier league in Brazil to participating in one of the top leagues in Europe will be a crucial step in his development. This transition will provide him with the opportunity to test his skills at a higher level of competition and gain invaluable experience. Once Chelsea completes his signing, Lima will join the ranks of other promising teenagers ready to prove their mettle and make an impact on the European stage.
